Summer is a magical time in the life of a young person. Be it away from the city or out of school, many young people associate summer with freedom and exploration—a time of transition that marks an individual's growth from one year to the next.
Steve's Camp at Horizon Farms (SCHF) empowers young people from underserved communities to make the most of this extraordinary time and realize their potential through a unique camp experience. Our campers get an opportunity to step outside of their city lives for a few weeks to experience healthy living, environmental stewardship, and leadership development.
Whether cooking nutritious meals, caring for animals on the farm, or working as a team on a challenging ropes course, each activity at Steve's Camp is designed to support campers in discovering "the real me" and in making decisions that will have positive impacts on their futures. Campers come away with a newfound awareness of themselves, their peers, and the world that exist beyond their blocks—all the things they need to build sustainable lives and become the vibrant young leaders the world so desperately needs.
