After a pandemic-filled year, where New Yorkers have been confined to our apartments and forced to connect through Zoom calls and from behind masks, young people need camp now more than ever! That is why Steve’s Camp at Horizon Farms is passionately dedicated to offering a safe in-person summer camp experience. Check out our ever-evolving safety plan for more information.

The camp experience is centered around the holistic idea of building healthy hearts, bodies, and minds. While every session is broken up thematically this year, each will mix healthy living and leadership development with a heavy dose of fun.

  • Healthy Body (activities aimed at trying new things): Daily warm-ups, challenge course activities, biking, hiking, and nature workshops.

  • Healthy Hearts (activities focused on working with others): Eco-challenge, Top Chef Challenge, sports, and cooperative games.

  • Healthy Minds (activities centered around thought and reflection): Paint and sip, dialogue activities, appreciation workshops.

While camp is important, it is not for everyone. Please review the requirements carefully and decide if you are a fit. We ask that you fill out part 1 of the application and someone from our office will be in touch with you about the next steps. See below to learn more and fill out Part 1:

  • Food Leadership Camp: July 3-14| Co-ed grades 9 - 12

  • Empowerment Camp Session 1: July 17 - 28 | Boys grades 6 - 8

  • Empowerment Camp  2: July 31- Aug 11 | Girls grades 6 - 8

  • Leadership Camp | Aug. 14-25 | Girls grades 9 - 11

If you are selected we ask that all participants follow safety protocols and participants pay a refundable $40 bus deposit (waivers will be available).  If you are a parent who is nervous about sending your child to camp, we understand your concerns and we want to work with your family to make sure the camp experience is right for you! If you have any questions or you would like to get your school or community involved please email
