Our Team
The team members at Steve’s Camp—often camp alumni—are equally passionate about nature-based learning and youth empowerment. Through the tireless dedication of our full-time employees, seasonal counselors, and volunteers, hundreds of kids and teens experience camp each year.

As a New York City-kid who benefited from the opportunity to explore nature during his summers at sleep-away camp, Terence feels a deep, personal connection with the mission of Steve’s Camp. After spending his early career in the financial sector—trading stocks on Wall Street and selling New York real estate—Terence was able to combine in his love of running with his desire to help others, becoming the executive director for the New York chapter of Back on My Feet, a nonprofit that uses the power of running to support unhoused people with vital resources. He later became the vice president of engagement at the organization’s national level. In 2020, that love of movement and helping others, led him to join the Steve’s Camp team, where he focuses on building the organization’s capacity so that more preteens and teens can experience the magic of camp.
Terence earned his BA in accounting and finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, sons, and fantastic dog. When he’s not communicating with families or donors, you can find him training for his next marathon.
“Our 100-acre working farm is really magical, and the only way you can experience it is to come up here. See the kids smiling, see the way that they connect, see the community they create here, and the lasting friendships. Getting people outside, being together, turning off your phones. It’s just a marvelous experience and something that these young people don’t forget.”

From her childhood filled with foraging, fishing, baking, and preserving food with her family to her career as an executive chef and restaurant owner, food and connection to the land have always been central to Amy’s life. In 2021, she brought her deep-knowledge of sustainable cooking to Steve’s Camp as the camp director. She is passionate about using her knowledge of Farm-to-table cooking and our food systems to inspire the next generation of culinary, environmental, and community leaders.
She is a graduate of Manhattan’s Institute of Culinary Education and has led kitchens in restaurants—including Murray’s Cheese, Bartlett House, and Dig Inn—where she kept her focus on local, seasonal, and sustainable cooking. She is an avid lover of mushrooms and fermented foods.
“When they go back home, they’re taking all the skills they learned here. And the way the program is designed, they don’t even realize they’re getting these skills—it’s subtle, but very impactful.”

As Farm Director, Stayc cultivates and maintains all plant and animal life at camp. She teaches about growing food, foraging, caring for farm animals, and working with plants as nourishment and medicine. She seeks to inspire campers to discover their own legacy and engagement with plants through culturally relevant seeds and stories.
Stayc has been studying botany and plant medicine for over two decades while working as a union makeup artist in film and television. She came to camp in the spring of 2020 when the production industry was shut down, and she wound up staying for six months. During that time, she built and established new gardens and discovered an unforeseen deep love for the land and camp.
“We are showing campers where their food comes from and empowering them to learn how to do it themselves.”

Steve grew up in a working-class neighborhood in the Bronx. Every summer, Steve and his family would leave the crowded city for a bungalow colony in the Catskill Mountains. When Steve was a teenager, his father, a taxi driver, picked up a Dartmouth College alum. The two hit it off, and eventually, the alum enabled Steve to attend Dartmouth when he was only 16 years old.
Steve credits his summers in the Catskills and the support of the Dartmouth alum for being instrumental to his personal growth and his career success as a real estate professional—founding The R.E. Group of Companies and K5 Equities, LLC. He founded Steve’s Camp to enable young people from similar economic backgrounds to explore and grow in the Catskills.
“I want the campers to take away an educational background—whether it’s horseback riding or being in a canoe for the first time—something which will always stay with them. We’ve had probably 1500 kids come through this camp, and we’ve changed their lives—they tell me so.”
