FUTURES: College Preparation Series (High Schoolers)

6 Sessions | Select Saturdays | 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

Join us for FUTURES, a six-session virtual series designed to help high schoolers feel confident and empowered as they plan their next steps after graduation. Rooted in justice and community, this program builds a supportive space where students can explore options, ask questions, and set clear goals for their futures.

Across the series, students will:

  • Learn the ins and outs of the college admissions process

  • Explore different types of colleges to find the right fit

  • Build strong academic and leadership profiles

  • Practice writing powerful essays and applications

  • Understand financial aid, FAFSA, and scholarships

  • Make informed, confident choices about their next chapter

By the end of the program, participants will be equipped with the tools, knowledge, and support to take charge of their postsecondary journey.

  • 12/20/25: Introduction to College Planning & Exploring College Options
  • Understand the admissions process, set goals, and create a timeline for success. Discover different types of colleges and identify factors that matter most in choosing the right fit.
  • 01/17/26: Standardized Testing
    Learn about the SAT/ACT, test-taking strategies, and which exams best fit your goals.
  • 02/21/26: Building a Strong Academic Profile
    Strengthen your grades, activities, and leadership skills to stand out as an applicant.
  • 03/21/26: Crafting a Compelling College Application
    Develop strong essays, gather recommendations, and build an application that tells your story.
  • 04/18/26: Financial Aid and Scholarships
    Gain confidence in navigating FAFSA, scholarships, and other ways to pay for college.
  • 05/23/26: Making Your Final Decision
    Compare offers, weigh pros and cons, and prepare for the transition into college life.
